The Descendants of Guillaume Fouquet

The Fuqua Family in America had its origins in Colonial Virginia. The vast majority (but not all) of "Fuqua's" have descended from a single immigrant who lived in Virginia in the 1600s.

The immigrant, commonly known as Guillaume Fouquet, is widely believed to have been a French Huguenot. Sometime after his arrival in Charles City County, he married an English woman named Jane Eyre and, together, they  began a cascade of American descendants.  Click Name for more information on :

    1.  Guillaume Fouquet was born Abt. 1667 in France.  He married Jane Eyre Abt. 1687 in Henrico County, Virginia, daughter of Joseph Eyre and Margaret Humphrey.  She was born Abt. 1667.

      5    iv.      William Fuqua, born Abt. 1691 in Charles City County, Virginia; died 1761 in Lunenburg County, Virginia.

      6     v.      Joseph Fuqua, born Abt. 1692 in Charles City County, Virginia.  He married Anna Sampson.

Generation No. 2

    4.  Ralph Fuqua (Guillaume1 Fouquet) was born Abt. 1690 in Charles City,  Henrico County, Virginia, and died 1770 in Bedford County Virginia.  He married Pricilla Owens 1734 in Henrico County Va., daughter of Thomas Owens and Elizabeth Brooks. 

Notes for Ralph Fuqua:

Ralph Fuqua settled in Bedford County in the early 1700's.  The records show that he purchased property from William Callaway on November 22, 1756.  This was the beginning of ownership of the land where much of the City of Bedford, Va. is now located.   Ralph Fuqua was related to William and Moses Fuqua who built the famous, "Green Hill Village", located near Long Island about 30 miles from Lynchburg, Va.  This village was built during the pre-revolutionary-war years.  Ralph Fuqua had seven sons and five daughters,  and it was from some of these that the Bedford County Family descended.

      9    iii.      Ralph Fuqua, Jr., born Abt. 1737 in Lunenburg County, Virginia; died July 24, 1770 in Bedford County,  Virginia.

      11   v.      Ann Fuqua, born Abt. 1739 in Lunenburg County, Virginia; died in Bedford County,  Virginia.

      12  vi.      Henry Fuqua, born Abt. 1740 in Lunenburg County, Virginia; died Bef. 1835 in Bullet County, Kentucky.  He married Tabitha ?.

+    13  vii.      Mary Fuqua, born Abt. 1742 in Lunenburg County, Virginia; died Abt. 1827 in Bledso County, Tennessee.

      14 viii.      William Fuqua, born 1744 in Lunenburg County, Virginia; died February 17, 1769 in Bedford County, Virginia.  He married Sarah Prather February 12, 1769 in Bedford County, Virginia.

+    15  ix.      Isham Fuqua, born Abt. 1748 in Lunenburg County, Virginia; died May 31, 1815 in Giles County, Tennessee.

      16   x.      Susannah Fuqua, born 1750 in Lunenburg County, Virginia; died in Prince Edward County, Virginia.  She married John Richardson Abt. 1770 in Virginia.
