    1.  Arthur Markham I  (Thomas², Thomas¹) was born Abt. 1670 in Henrico County, Virginia, and died March 31, 1732 in Henrico County, Virginia.  He married Frances Bef. 1712.  She was born Abt. 1690.

     2.  Thomas Markham (Arthur³, Thomas², Thomas¹) was born Abt. 1712 in Amelia County, Virginia, and died 1749 in Virginia.  He married Agnes ? in Virginia.  She was born in Virginia

    5.  Arthur Markham II (Arthur³, Thomas², Thomas¹) was born Bet. 1720 - 1730 in Henrico County, Virginia, and died Aft. 1791 in Bedford County,  Virginia.  He married (1)Unknown Bef. 1952 in Virginia.  She was born Abt. 1730 in Virginia. He married (2) Martha Hill May 02, 1770 in Bedford County, Virginia.  She was born in Virginia.

Notes: for Arthur Markham II:

"Arthur II, the second son of Arthur of Henrico, owned a plantation in Prince Edward County, and had four sons, all of whom fought in the Revolutionary War.   They were:  (1) James, born in 1752, (2) Thomas, born 15 July 1757 according to his pension application, (3)  Arthur, also born in 1757 if his enlistment age is correct, and (4)  John, born is 1764.

The Markham plantation was 200 acres described in the deed as bounded by the property of Samuel Morrison and William North and the Ridge Road; and on the tax roll it is described as "adjacent to Peyton Randolph's Spring Creek Estate".

First of the sons to see action in the Revolution was Thomas, who volunteered in the local company of "Minute Men" of Prince Edward County.  Minute Men companies were organized in most counties prior to the Revolution to be ready to go anywhere needed on a "minute's notice" for however long they might be needed.  The Price Edward unit was called 1 April, 1776 to perform guard duty along the coast at Hampton, the strategic entrance to Chesapeake Bay and mouth of the James River.  They were on this duty nearly nine months, and exchanged fire with British ships several times.  In his pension application many years later, Thomas recalls that when news of the Declaration of Independence reached the unit, they proudly paraded up and down the beach within sight of the British warships offshore, and fired thirteen rounds (for the Thirteen colonies) in honor to the great event!  What a day in history!

    6.  Thomas Markham, Jr. (Thomas⁴, ARTHUR³, THOMAS², Thomas¹) was born 1740 in Amelia County, Virginia, and died Bet. 1800 - 1810 in Stokes County, North Carolina.  He married Jane Clay in Chesterfield County, Virginia.  She was born in Chesterfield County, Virginia.

Children of Thomas Markham and Jane Clay are:

      13   ii.      Agnes Markham.  She married John Banks 1789 in Franklin County , Virginia.

      14  iii.      Barnet Markham.  He married Lucy Belcher 1791 in Franklin County, Virginia.

      15  iv.      Charles Markham.

      16   v.      John Markham.  He married Agnes 1789.

      17  vi.      Thomas Markham.  He married Mary Wilson Stokes 1800 in Stokes County, North Carolina.

+    19       viii.   Josiah Marcum, born May 02, 1759 in Chesterfield County, Virginia; died March 1846 in Wayne County, Va (later W.Va.).

    8.  Sarah Markham (Arthur⁴, Arthur³, Thomas², Thomas¹) was born Abt. 1771 in Bedford County,  Virginia, and died Bef. 1830 in Bedford County, Virginia.  She married Owen Wilkerson, Sr. February 17, 1787 in Bedford County, Virginia, son of Joseph Wilkerson and Mary Franklin. 

    Child of Sarah Markham and Owen Wilkerson is:

      14           i.   Owen Wilkerson, Jr., born 1810 in Bedford County, Virginia; died February 1896 in Bedford County, Virginia.  He married Mary "Polly" Wilkerson  October 22, 1834 in Bedford County, Virginia.
