"Arthur's youngest son, John, enlisted in March 1779 and fought at the battle of Stono River in South Carolina, and on another enlistment in 1781, fought at the Siege of ninety-six in South Carolina at the Edisto River."

"On 22 June 1785 the father, Arthur II. sold his Prince Edward plantation to Robert Franklin and moved farther west to Bedford County, Virginia, along with sons Thomas and John.  In a document filed in Bedford County 2 February 1798, Arthur deeds 196 acres and a Negro to his son Thomas effective upon his death, this action said to be "in settlement of a claim which said Thomas has against me" the nature of which is not disclosed."

    20.  William I. Markham (Arthur5, ARTHUR4, ARTHUR3, THOMAS2, Thomas1) was born 1783 in Prince Edwards County, Virginia, and died Abt. 1873 in Georgia.  He married Mary Gorman Abt. 1803.  She was born Abt. 1786 in Burke County, Georgia, and died Abt. 1840 in Camden County, Georgia.

   The third and last Markham/Marcum to be found in Georgia records at the turn of the century was Arthur and Frances' son William I. Markham.  He Married Mary Gorman of Burke County and obtained a grant of 202 acres on the Stella River in Camden County, Georgia, and they reared their family there, including eldest son and our Florida Pioneer, William W. Marcum.

      36  iii.      Louisa Markham, born Abt. 1812 in Camden County, Georgia.  She married Christopher C. "Popp" Lloyd.

      37  iv.      Janie Markham, born Abt. 1815 in Camden County, Georgia; died Unknown in Rose  Creek Cemetery, Camden County, Ga. Janie drowned in Rose Creek, Camden County, Ga. date unknown

       38  v.      Della Markham, born Abt. 1819 in Camden County, Georgia.  She married Henry Ryals July 25, 1839 in Unknown; born Unknown.
